"A Child's Prayer"

"Brothers Forever"

I would like to pay tribute to my sweet son Ty. He is such an incredible young man. When he found out that I was pregnant he started praying for a little brother. Whenever he was called on to pray in our family he always prayed that the baby would be healthy and that it would be a boy. A little over a year ago when we found out that yes it is a boy we were so excited but also so excited for Ty. He was finally getting his prayer answered that yes he was going to have a little brother to take care of and teach all the wonderful things of this life to. We went and got blue balloons and took them to Ty and Em's school to let them know that we were having a boy. I will never forget the smile on Ty's face. He was getting his wish.

Ty loved Wyatt so much. He spent so much time holding him. He was always willing to help me out and tend Wyatt when I needed to do something. Ty also loved to take pictures of his little brother. He took hundreds of pictures those first few weeks. I now wish we would have kept them all. After taking Ty in to see his little brother hooked up to so many machines and laying there lifeless I walked out of the PICU with him and we cried. I had to let him know that Wyatt was in our Heavenly Fathers hands right now and it was up to him if Wyatt would stay with us or not. Ty prayed most earnestly those couple days that a miracle could happen. We found out later that he fasted for his little brother to be healed. On the day that we would have to take Wyatt off life support Ty was asked to say the blessing on the food that morning. My sweet, sweet boy set aside his will and prayed again for his little brother. He asked Heavenly Father that if the miracle couldn't happen and if Wyatt had to go that he would go quickly and peacefully. That is exactly what happened. The one prayer Heavenly Father could answer was answered. How grateful I am that my boy has that kind of faith. I know that Ty and Wyatt will get to experience all the wonderful things that brothers experience together. It will just be in the next life. I think Ty will be blessed to feel his brothers presence and strength. Especially when he serves his mission. How grateful I am for a righteous and obedient son.

This was Ty's favorite picture he took of Wyatt. It was his gang sign picture.

Andrea-
I love this post! Tyler is an amazing young man and that is because of his parents. You and Derek have taught him well, and that is a great tribute to you! I hope your Sunday was a good one. I thought of you all through church, wishing that I could sit with you today.

What a touching entry. You told me the story in person, but seeing it written and being able to read it was so neat. What a sweet son you have.

Tyler truly is a great boy. I remember how excited he was in Webelos that week when you were going to go in and have Wyatt, it was way too cute to see him like that.

Tyler is such a good kid! A lot of my prayers for you and your family have been geared towards him because I knew how much he wanted Wyatt. I remeber when my mom was pregnant with Mitch I was about Tyler's age. I was so emotionally involved during the whole process and I even prayed to know which name we should name him because no one could decide what his name should be. I have been so impressed by Tyler's strength through out this whole thing. I tried to put myself back to when Mitch was born and then have to deal with the loss of my baby brother. Wyatt was very lucky, and is very lucky, to have a such a strong, great big brother. I'm so proud of Tyler! What an awesome guy! I love you Ty!

I love you Tyler! Man, this one got me. I remember Tyler's strength at the hospital. He was so strong the day he said goodbye to his brother he had prayed so hard for. When we took him from the hospital on March 13 I remember how he cried, but then was strong for his sisters who maybe didn't understand as much of what was going on. He ceases to amaze me! What a blessing to your amazing family. You're awesome Ty!

Tyler is such an amazing kid! watching him at the hospital and especially at the funeral was incredibly hard for me. I remember talking to Ty when I was playing a game with him and emily and him saying that he was so happy to have a brother. It is so visible to everyone that he loves his brother so much! You can tell he has a testimony! He is an awesome kid!

I started to write earlier, but the power went off at our house so here goes again... My name is Marilla and I hope you don't mind me sharing on your blog. I found you through my cousin Brittany's blog. Her son is in heaven also. Anyways, thank you for sharing your beautiful son Wyatt! Reading this tribute to your son touched me especially because when I was young my only sister almost died as she was run over by a car. I remember praying to Heavenly Father that she would be ok, especially because I did not want to be the only sister in my family and I knew my parents were not having any more kids... Well needless to say we had a miracle then and my little sister just now returned from her mission to Brazil. Well it looks like Tyler will get the chance to serve his mission someday WITH his little brother. You are all in my prayers.
